4/28/23 – This is a WW2 Nazi Rural / Auxiliary Police Officer’s Tschako. Great overall condition with green wool and brown lacquered exterior. The original leather liner and leather chin strap are also still in tact. The exterior wool has a few small moth holes, above the right ear and near the back brim, but these are small and only detract slightly from the overall great condition and color. The top crown has some cracking on the brown lacquered finish, and some more mild wrinkling is found on the front and back brims. The aluminum police emblem has mild patina but is in excellent overall condition. The central oval aluminum cockade has mild paint loss and surface patina, but is well marked with a “DRGM”, 1938 date, and maker stamps. The stitching throughout the exterior is all original and excellent. The chinstrap has mild wrinkling and is in excellent overall condition. The interior beige leather liner is excellent with some mild staining from age. The interior crown is maker marked, size stamped “57”. The interior green brims are excellent.
