4/26/23 – This is a nice example of a pre-Civil war Springfield Musket Model 1842 made in 1847. Musket is in clean condition with an excellent stock that has minor dings here and there. The lock plate has “US Springfield 1847” stamped with the eagle. The buttplate is stamped “US” on the top, with the barrel having the V, P, an eagle head stamp, and the year 1847. The metal is finished in the white, with minor oxidation sprinkled throughout. The bore is dark, but no signs of pitting. A great example for a Mexican-American War and Civil War collection. Comes with a repro brown leather sling.
