4/11/23 – This is a very nice example of a late-war BYF 44 Mauser K98 issued to the Nazi military in 1944. All numbered parts are matching with the proper military acceptance proofs throughout. Many of the parts are un-numbered, and some of the parts have a phosphate finish – both correct for this late-war variation. It has retained roughly 90% of its original finish. The majority of the wear is on the barrel and font barrel band, where there is splotchy discoloration. There is spotty brown patina on the floor plate and trigger group, typical for phosphate finishes. Some spotty oxidation and pin-pricking on the butt plate. Excellent wood furniture with a clear waffen stamp on the right side of the butt stock. Excellent bore with strong rifling. Comes with a period-correct sling.
