3/10/23 – This is a rare and desirable variation 1944 dated hard shell style P.38 holster. Very few hard shell style holsters were made in 1944, as the Germans switched to soft shell in 1943. The ’44 hardshells in existence today are mostly made from scrap leather, but this example has very nice original black leather that’s in great condition. The leather has normal pliability and is in great shape with a clean interior. The back leather is stamped with a maker code and date “4”, waffen military proof, P.38 stamp, and a RBNr. which was a later-wartime designation stamp for distribution channels throughout the German military. The stitching is all original and in great condition.
