Ernst-Thalmann-Werke
P.38
1953
N1109 - 24163

3/16/23 – This is a very rare P.38 made by the Ernst Thalmann factory in Suhl in 1953. They only made about 120 of these guns. This particular example is listed by serial number as a known gun on page 278 of Krutzek’s P.38 book. It is all matching and has all the correct proofs. In this variation, the main parts were usually newly manufactured by Ernst Thalmann. These weapons were marked with the A.B.9 logo. New production started for some weapon types that were needed for arming the newly established German Communist authorities. In the beginning, the readily available German WW2 weapons were used, although those weapons needed spare parts and replacement. This particular gun has retained about 93% of its finish. Minor thinning and spotty oxidation on the front strap. Minor wear around the high edges and some light scratches on the right side of the slide. Some small dings on the right side of the slide. NOTE: There is a small hairline crack in the slide. The bore is stone-mint. It should also be noted that the trigger sticks a bit. Still a solid example of a very rare gun. Comes with a blank P.38 magazine and a generic brown leather holster.
