3/1/23 – This is a nice example of an early DWM Luger that was originally issued to the Imperial German military in 1913. It is all matching and has the proper Imperial proofs on the right side of the slide. It has the proper early features, such as no stock lug and originally had no hold-open (one was added later). The gun was reworked after WW1 and issued to the German police, as evidence by the “1920” government property marking on the chamber and added police sear safety. The gun comes as a rig with a fairly worn 1929-dated police holster, a WW2-era “Eagle 63” proofed tool, one mismatched WW2-era magazine, and one “Germany” marked wood bottom magazine. The gun itself has retained roughly 70% of its bluing. The vast majority of the finish loss is on the grip straps, but there is also minor wear around the muzzle, on the side plate, and on the front edges of the side rails. Fitted with excellent wood grips – the left is an armorers replacement marked “S/42”, the right is not numbered but has a K-date style “S” marking. The bore has decent rifling, but there is pin-pricking throughout.
