1/30/23 – This is a nice example of a Colt Model 1911A1 issued to the US military in 1942. Only about 100,000 were produced that year, compared to over 750,000 in 1943. The slide is numbered and matching. It is “United States Property” marked and has “WB” inspector initials. The gun currently has a Colt 45 Auto barrel with a small “F” under the lug. We’ve also included the proper Colt barrel with the large “G” under the lug, but it is missing the link and pin. The gun comes as a rig with one proper magazine and a very nice tan leather shoulder holster. It has retained about 90% of its original finish with minor wear around the muzzle and around the high edges in general. Minor thinning and brown patina on the grip straps. Areas of light spotty oxidation throughout. Fitted with excellent period-correct reddish bakelite grips. The bore has decent rifling, but there is pin-pricking throughout.
