1/17/23 – This is an early WW2 Type 30 Bayonet by Aisan Arsenal. The bayonet features a bright fullered blade and other early features such as a bird’s head pommel, hooked crossguard, and a ball-tipped metal scabbard. The blade has surface oxidation and speckling throughout each side. There are a few small chips and dents in the blade near the tip, likely from use. No signs of excessive sharpening. The blued crossguard and pommel have speckling wear, finish loss, and dark patina, but no rust or pitting. The pommel has a Tokyo inspector’s mark and is serial numbered. The scabbard has a few small dents and dark patina throughout the blued finish, but is in great overall condition. Variation A, LB-136 in Labar’s book.
