12/30/22 – This is a nice example of a shooter-grade Springfield M1 Garand issued to the US military in about March of 1944. Springfield barrel dated May of 1947. There are no proofs on the stock, but there is an old yellow sticker on the left side of the butt stock. The metal parts have retained somewhere between 85-90% of their finish. There is general thinning throughout and minor wear around the high edges. Some streaks of wear and spotty oxidation on the trigger group. Heavy brown patina and some very light surface rust on the butt plate and the sling swivel. There are dings and dents on the stock throughout. A couple of tiny cracks on the right side and one on the upper handguard. The bore has good rifling, but there is minor pin-pricking in the grooves. Muzzle reading: 4. Throat reading: 3.
