12/6/22 – This pistol has an interesting history. It was initially issued to the Nazi military in 1937. It has the proper “Eagle 63” military proofs. It was then likely reworked by the East German police after WW2. These are often known as “VoPo” Lugers. Most of the gun is matching, but the frame does not match the upper. The firing pin is not numbered, and the numbering on the hold-open is crossed out. The side plate is Simson-proofed and was re-numbered to match the upper. This was likely done at the police arsenal. Also at the police arsenal, the gun was refinished and given a set of post war grips. It has retained most of its new bluing, but there is minor thinning on the grip straps. A few tiny dings on the side plate and some minor pin-pricking around the chamber. Comes with one post-war magazine. The bore has decent rifling, but there is pitting in the grooves.
