12/23/22 – This is a nice example of a scarce “G Date” Mauser K98 rifle issued to the Nazi military in 1935. It has the proper “G Date” Nazi military acceptance proofs throughout and a correct “S/42G” Mauser factory code on the receiver. The gun is mostly matching, but the bolt is mismatched, and the barrel bands, butt plate, and one of the floor plate screws are un-numbered. Extremely faint waffen proofs on the wrist of the stock and right side of the butt stock. The stock is also externally numbered and mismatched. The metal parts have retained roughly 85% of its bluing. There are areas of obvious finish loss on the rear barrel band and floor plate. Light spotty oxidation throughout. Heavy brown patina on the stock discs, bayonet lug, and butt plate. No major damage to the wood stock, but there are minor dings and scratches throughout. Mint bore.
