10/25/22 – This is a great example of an original WW2 Bremen Municipality Police Tschako (Shako). The exterior is constructed of black vulcanfiber with black leather embellishments. The front and rear visor are also constructed of a black vulcanfiber and the top is a hardened piece of black leather secured with black stitching. Overall, the exterior is in great condition showing minor use wear throughout with some small blemishes here and there. The leather top shows some wrinkling/minor cracking as shown but no has no structural issues. The front of the Tschako has a silvered starburst with the Bremen coat of arms surrounded by a oak leaf wreath. There is minor patina throughout the emblem but no pitting. Above the emblem is an oval aluminum cockade with a brown painted center bordered by a red painted ring and a black painted ring. Both sets of screened ventilation holes are in excellent condition with no structural issues. The original leather chin strap is attached and in excellent condition. There are minor signs of wear in the leather surround both buckles, but it is secure and fully functional. The interior of both visors are painted green and in great condition with minimal wear. The leather band is in great condition, showing minor discoloration and wear but fully secure within the outer shell. The original leather drawstring is included but in pieces. In the interior is a “Robert Lubftein Berlin” maker mark, “56 1/2” size marking, and “EREL” marking as shown. The leather band has ink writing reading “HE” and its underside reads “1937” indicating the year the headpiece was constructed.
