10/18/22 – This is an original 2nd variation Luftwaffe dagger with an original scabbard and hanger. The dagger blade is excellent overall with prominent cross-graining and a clean finish. There is some spotty discoloration near the tip of the dagger, but this is minor. The blade is maker stamped on one side as shown. The highlight of this dagger is the hand guard and pommel still retaining some of the gold washed finish. This is also found on areas of the scabbard, as shown in photos. Most examples found today lack this finish as the gold wash wore away fairly easily over time. The handle has surface cracking and scuffing throughout but no deep cracks or chips. The scabbard has dark patina and discoloration mixed among the original finish, and no dents. Comes with an original RZM stamped hanger in excellent condition.
