10/12/22 – This is a very nice example of an Erfurt K98 Carbine issued to the Imperial German military in 1917. It has the proper military acceptance proofs throughout. It appears to be all matching. However, the number on the butt plate is “72”, and it looks like the other two numbers are ground. So it is likely matching, but we can’t say for sure. The number on the stock appears to be matching as well, but the number is slightly obscured. No import marks. The gun is in very nice condition overall. There is minor wear and brown patina on the receiver and some minor wear on the front barrel band. The stock is nice with dings and bruises here and there, especially on the butt stock. It appears to have been lightly sanded. Excellent bore with strong rifling and just a hint of frosting in the grooves. Comes with a leather sling.
