10/10/22 – This is a very cool and interesting Winchester Model 12 trench shotgun from WW2. More information on the markings/history can be found in our Youtube video on this specific gun (the previous buyer consigned it back to us) below, but this shotgun is marked ‘TE’ on the stock and ‘U.S. C+CCC Y-12717’ on the receiver. These markings stand for Tennessee Eastman, and Carbine & Carbon Chemical Co. Both of these facilities were involved in the development of nuclear weapons, and this shotgun was issued to a guard working at these locations. Y-12 refers specifically to the facility, and ‘717’ is likely the firearm issue number. The gun has about 75-80% of the high-polish blue remaining with a notable patch of wear on the heat shield, and along the top of the receiver. There’s notably scratchy/textured wear along the top of the receiver in this area. The stock/wood parts are in great shape with sharp inspector’s markings on the left face. Bore is shiny with just minor signs of use. Comes with an excellent 1942 dated sling. Comes with a U.S. marked canvas carry case.
