10/10/22 – This is an original K98 bayonet from 1940 with an original matching numbered scabbard. The scabbard also comes with an attached leather frog, as shown. The blade and scabbard are both numbered “9095b” on one side and maker stamped on the reverse. The blade is “40” date stamped on the spine. The finish throughout the blade is excellent with some mild finish loss near the tip, but no rust or pitting. No signs of sharpening either. The pommel and metal portions of the handle have finish loss and surface patina but no major areas of rust or pitting. The scabbard has surface patina throughout and some mild finish loss. No dents in the scabbard. The leather frog is maker stamped on the reverse but this is no longer legible. There’s surface wear throughout the leather but no major issues.
