10/7/22 – This is a very nice example of a DWM Gewehr 98 rifle issued to the Imperial German military in 1917. The gun is entirely matching (including the stock) and has the proper Imperial military proofs throughout. No import marks. It is rare to find an all-matching example with no import marks these days! There is no finish on the receiver or bolt. Noticeable finish loss in the barrel bands, floor plate, and trigger group. The barrel has retained most of its bluing with some tiny dots of oxidation here and there. Some wear around the muzzle as well. Spotty oxidation on the butt plate. The wood stock is numbered to match and has the proper Imperial proofs. There is no major damage – just small dings and handling marks throughout. Excellent bore with great rifling.
