9/23/22 – This is an early Norinco 56S-1 Chinese AKMS semi-auto rifle. The serial number makes this one of the first batches of AK47 type assault rifles imported into the United States in the 1980s. This example has a functional folding stock, bayonet lug, and very clean finish throughout. Also comes with a 30 round magazine, canvas shoulder sling, and cleaning rod. The metal is excellent, with strong finish throughout the receiver and barrel. The finish in these areas is strong with a few very mild blemishes and typical mild handling wear. The rating of 90-95% comes mostly from the surface patina and spots of discoloration on the folding stock (where the majority of the finish loss is found). The wood handle and foregrip have no cracks or chips. The bore is minty with shiny finish and strong rifling. As an added bonus, the import stamp near the magazine well is very faint and hard to see. A great collector grade 56S-1.
