8/16/22 – This is a very nice example of a Smith & Wesson Model 1917 Revolver issued to the US military during WW1. It is all matching, “United States Property” marked on the underside of the barrel, and has the proper military inspection proof. It comes as a rig with a nice WW1-era holster and original leather lanyard. The holster is dated on the back, but the date is partially obscured. The gun itself has retained about 93% of its original high polish finish. The majority of the finish loss comes in the form of splotchy wear on the right side of the frame. There is a light roll mark on the cylinder, minor pin-pricking on the grip straps, and a few tiny handling marks along the barrel. Very nice bore with good rifling. The cylinder is tight, and the action is smooth.
