8/15/22 – This is an excellent example of an all matching and original Mauser P.38 with phosphate finish on slide and frame. It has a blued barrel and rear sight, creating the “dual-tone” look that collectors like. Krutzek’s P.38 book estimates 18,000 were produced, and while the slide has a ’44 date, many were completed several months into 1945. They have a rougher, sometimes “splotchy” finish but this one shows very little wear. Little bit of finish loss on the muzzle and front edges of the slide, but excellent overall. There’s also a couple of small patches of minor pinpricking on the right side of the slide. Bore is shiny with strong rifling but there is a little freckling in the grooves. Excellent grips with only minor scuffing. WaA135 magazine. Functional de-cocker.
