7/27/22 – This is an original WW1 US Trench fighting knife. The blade is in great condition with most of the original blued finish intact. There’s some mild surface scabbard wear and thinning of the finish but no rust or pitting. The metal handguard has dark patina throughout, and the top of the handguard is slightly bent but this doesn’t affect functionality. The hand guard is maker stamped and dated as shown. No cracks or chips in the wood handle. The knife comes with an original scabbard that’s maker stamped by Jewell and dated 1918. The leather is worn and has surface discoloration and mild scuffing throughout, but is still completely intact and the stitching is tight. The metal tip and mouth have dark patina throughout but the pins are all attached and original.
