7/13/22 – This is an original 1939 dated K98 bayonet with a 1938 dated scabbard. The bayonet blade is in great condition with some spotty surface discoloration and finish loss near the tip. No signs of sharpening. Maker stamped on one side of the ricasso, and serial numbered on the reverse. The spine of the blade is ’39 dated. The hand guard and handle have some honest wear and mild finish loss amongst the original blued finish. The scabbard is missing most of the finish and has spotty patina throughout. The frog knob appears to have been welded back in place (shown by the gold / copper colored metal in this area).
