6/30/22 – This is an original German WW1 Imperial proofed Butcher style bayonet for the Gewehr 98 rifle. The bayonet features an excellent blade with original bluing still mostly in tact. There’s some mild finish loss / scabbard wear mostly near the tip of the blade, but no signs of sharpening. The spine of the blade is Imperial proof stamped and “18” dated for 1918. The ricasso is maker stamped on one side. The metal hand guard and pommel are in great condition with some mild surface patina and proper imperial proofs on the small parts. Comes with an original scabbard that has a few small dents and patina throughout.
