6/3/22 – This is a very scarce variation of Mauser Broomhandle Large Ring hammer pistol, made in 1902-1903, that features “shallow milled” panels on both sides of the frame. Only a couple thousand of this variation were made, and all fall in 30xxx- 33xxx serial range. This particular gun is all matching, including all the internal parts and grips. The gun also has a scarce “Von Lengerke and Detmold, New York” inscription on the left side of the frame – a company that was the sole distributor of the C96 Mauser in US at that time. The pistol has a large portion of its original blue remaining but the front of the magazine housing does have some sort of substance or paint speckled on it. This is a consignment listing so we haven’t made any serious attempts to clean it, but not certain it would come off either way. The grip frame, slot and just above the grips do show some surface rust. Bore is shiny with good rifling, just minor frost throughout. The stock is unmarked and has a notable crack in the side and in the lid. It also features a unique, presumably custom (?) stock slot attachment that we aren’t familiar with.
