5/19/22 – This is a very nice example of a Colt Model 1911 issued to the US military in 1918. It is “United States Property” marked and has the proper “Eagle Head S8” military acceptance proof. It comes as a rig with a period-correct magazine and a 1918-dated leather holster – the edges have been modified with a nice leather-stitched border. The gun has a Colt barrel that appears to have a WW2-era military cross-cannon cartouche marking (see photo). In addition, the bluing is dull and appears to be an old refinish. This could be evidence that the gun went to an arsenal for re-issue during WW2 – can’t say for sure. In any case, there is very little finish loss except for very minor wear around the muzzle and high edges of the slide. Some tiny dings on the front strap and very minor pin-pricking on the back strap. Comes with minty wood grips. Minty bore.
