3/30/22 – This is a very nice example of a “last-ditch” Arisaka Type 99 rifle issued to the Japanese military at the very end of WW2. The gun is all matching and has a completely intact Imperial mum stamp on the receiver. This example has the proper “last-ditch” end-of-war features such as the wooden butt plate, crude bolt handle, peep-style rear sight, and rough machining / visible machine marks throughout. There is not much actual finish loss, but there are tiny dots of oxidation on most of the metal parts. Thinning on the floor plate. There are areas on the front barrel band and floor plate that look like they were covered in a thin layer of wood lacquer. The wood stock is nice with dings, scratches, and small gouges throughout – typical of these crude, late-war guns. A couple of small wood repairs on the right side of the stock near the rear sight. The handguard is a little loose, likely because it looks like the wood is chipped around the front barrel band. Mint bore.
