3/3/22 – This is an all matching and original example of a very rare Walther P.38 variation from 1945, one of only 1,800 produced. We’ve seen these referred to as zero series or zero-prefix Walther P.38s, but Krutzek’s P.38 book states this is the last Mod. HP variation. It features two inspection marks on the right side of the slide as it used ‘ac 45’ slides but serializing continued from where Mod. HP production ended. The zero was added to distinguish from the commercial production that preceded it. The pistol is in excellent condition, with about 98% of the original blue remaining. Just a small spot of wear on the barrel, and another on the front strap. Mint bore and grips, hardly looks used. The front strap does have the very common casting flaw seen on many late-war P.38s.
