8/20/24 – This is a rare Nazi issued rifle, made in 1941 at the FEG factory in Hungary. These rifles were originally manufactured during the early part of WWII as the Hungarian model 35, at the Metal Goods and Weapons Factory, Budapest, Hungary. After the take over of the Hungarian factory by the Germans these rifles were designated the model G98/40 and the factory was given the wartime code of “jhv”. This rifle is similar in function and operation to the standard K98 rifle with nearly identical front and rear sights, making training and reissue very easy. The top of the receiver is marked “jhv/41” the wartime code for the Hungarian factory and 1941 for the year of manufacture. The left receiver side wall is marked “G98/40” and the left side of the receiver and barrel have the large German Eagle firing proof. This one has a mismatched bolt and floorplate. Matching numbers on the bands, receiver, barrel, rear sight, buttplate and trigger housing. Stock shows its age but doesn’t have any cracks. Many dings and scratches throughout, and a previous owner carved their name in the right side. Sharp waffenamts are present, at least. The bore has strong rifling but frost throughout and is in need of a thorough cleaning as it’s very dirty. Finish on the metal parts is original throughout but shows some general thinning in most areas, and minor freckling in a couple of areas. Comes with original sling.
