11/24/21 – – This is an original example of a Nambu Type 26 revolver and holster. The Type 26 or Model 26 “hammerless” revolver was the first modern revolver adopted by the Imperial Japanese Army. It was developed at the Koishikawa Arsenal and is named for its year of adoption in the Japanese dating system (the 26th year of the reign of the Meiji emperor, i.e., 1893). The revolver saw action in conflicts including the Russo-Japanese War, World War I and World War II. This particular gun has retained roughly 60% of its original finish. Notable wear on all sides, with some freckling on the barrel and cylinder. Bore is excellent though and the revolver appears to function properly. Excellent grips. Holster shows some wear and a small hole near the toe, but includes the cleaning rod. NOTE: This revolver has a few mechanical issues/missing parts that would affect functionality. It’s missing the barrel latch plunger and the tension spring in the barrel cam. The tension spring may not affect function but the barrel latch plunger affects the barrel latching properly each time. The grip screw on right grip is stripped, and the hand that advances the cylinder is beat up on the end, which affects the hammer releasing correctly. So this is a bit of a minor project gun for whoever may buy it.
