11/5/21 – This is a very nice example of an early Erfurt Luger issued to the Imperial German military in 1912. The gun is all matching, has the proper Imperial German military proofs, and has the proper Erfurt proofs throughout. It also has a “172.R.M.G.56” regimental military marking on the front strap. It has early features such as no stock lug on the rear grip strap and no factory hold-open. A hold-open was added later, as evidence by a tiny weld hold on the right side of the frame. The gun has retained about 92% of its original finish. There is wear on the side plate, side rails, and around the muzzle. Some tiny dots of oxidation in the same areas and some tiny pits around the muzzle. There are some light handling marks and a few dots of oxidation on the barrel. Some very minor freckling on both grip straps. Comes with very nice matching-numbered wood grips and a period-correct but mismatched Erfurt magazine. The bore has decent rifling with minor pin-pricking throughout.
