11/2/21 – This is an original, late WW1 production US “Liberty Bell” Helmet. These helmets were made at the end of WW1 as an experimental standard issue military helmet. The helmet was not accepted and ultimately never used by the US military because the helmets showed poor protection during combat, and the troops didn’t like the aesthetics of the helmet. Therefore, only 1k-2k of these helmets were ever made. The helmet features a bell shape dome that’s in great overall condition with no dents or major issues. Some mild paint loss. The interior still has the original leather liner, although one of the leather pads is missing. The chin strap is included but not complete (one end is missing). See photos.
