9/2/21 – This is a nice example of a Czech CZ 38 manufactured around 1941. This one works in single and double action and has a manual safety lever. It also has a ribbed hammer. This variation is discussed on pg 66 of Axis Pistols “A double-single variation was manufactured with a manual safety reportedly for sales to Romania or Bulgaria. Some of these have a ‘T’ over the chamber, are serialed in the 240000 range and dated 1941. Many are mismatched.” This particular example is mismatched and has a “T” over the chamber. It has no dated or other proof marks. It has retained about 95% of its finish. Generally, there is wear around the high edges. While there isn’t much actual finish loss, there is dark brown patina throughout, and small dings and tiny pits on both sides of the slide. Comes with nice bakelite grips (a few dings on the right side) and a proper magazine. Very nice bore with strong rifling.
