7/26/21 – This is a very rare and highly desirable long side rail sniper K98 as produced in 1944 at the Sauer factory. While the ‘bcd’ code on receiver indicates Gustloff Werke manufacture, Sauer was using the long side rail receivers that Gustloff Werke produced due to their particular design with thicker left receiver wall milled at the factory to accommodate a long side rail scope base. These can be identified by the Sauer inspection proof E/37 on right side of receiver. This particular example is all matching numbers, except for the stock. Our belief is that the stock was reclaimed by the Germans as the handguard IS matching numbered to the receiver, and the stock has the proper LSR cut out. Matching trigger assembly, bolt assembly, receiver, barrel, bands, rear sight. Buttplate is ‘dwc’ marked with sharp waffenamt. The bluing on the metal parts is original and in very good condition, with some finish loss on the barrel behind the rear sight, bands and trigger guard. The bore is stone mint, looks nearly unfired. Stock is in great condition with no cracks or chips. Comes with cleaning rod and sight hood.
