3/5/21 – This is a nice example of a rare DWM Artillery Luger rig issued to the Imperial German army in 1914. Only a few hundred 1914 Artillery Lugers were made with the 1914 chamber date. When you find one they can easily be in the $10k range or more. This Artillery Luger is 1914 dated, however the serial number is beyond the accepted range. There is no sign that the date was changed so we assume the gun was put together in 1915 using “old stock”. The gun has mostly matching except for the following: the hold open does not match; both grips are #87, and the front toggle and firing pin are both #34. The gun has original finish, with areas of pitting on the barrel and right side of the frame. Significant wear on the barrel. It comes with a Swiss magazine. The bore has lots of rifling but dark and a corrosion. It comes with an original 1915 dated holster. The holster is black with a broken closure strap.
