12/16/20 – This is an original Colt Government Model 1911 from 1917 with over blued finish and all correct parts. It has a rare ‘G’ proofed receiver, which signifies it was produced to satisfy a military contract. So, this pistol was likely a commercial Government Model built on a frame that was rejected for military use. It comes with a Colt factory letter that indicates it shipped on June 12, 1917 to a hardware company in Lincoln, Nebraska. The pistol has a nice profile with most of the wear along the top of the slide. Also has large patches of bluing loss on the grip straps. Correct barrel with strong rifling but some frost in the grooves. Two-tone magazine. Authenticated and previously sold by Scott Gahimer.
