9/23/20 – This is an original WW2 Japanese Katana sword. Known as a Shin-Gunto type 98 style. This sword comes with a metal sheath that has a few very minor dents but overall is in great condition. The sheath “lock” on the handle of the hand guard is missing, but this is a minor flaw. Excellent handle with olive green wrap fully in tact. Blue and brown ribbon hangs from the pommel. Mekugi is in tact. The tang has a 9 figure cut signature (we’re told this is Noshu Ju Minamoto Kanehisa, 1941). Next to this is an arsenal stamp. The reverse side of the tang has three figures painted. Some very light oxidation on the blade “spine”, but otherwise an excellent, clean blade with a wavy hamon.
