9/1/20 – This is an original, rare variation WW1 trench knife. The knife is French made by Au Lion, a company outsourced by the U.S. to help production demand for these fighting knives. The knife comes with the original metal scabbard which has both of its’ belt hooks still in tact – another fairly rare find. The scabbard does have a dent near the tip-end however. There is some light patina throughout but some of the original finish is still evident on the scabbard. The blade is in excellent condition with no signs of sharpening. Minimal patina / wear on the blade. No issues with the handle. Stamped with a maker stamp and “AU LION” on one side.
