8/10/20 – This rare, Remington Model 1873 has beautiful, Side-by-side damascus barrels 30″ in length. Chambered in 10 gauge. The unique hammer lifter action is nicely engraved with a scroll pattern on locks, across bottom of receiver and trigger plate as well as the bow of trigger guard. Sides of hammers are nicely engraved as well as the lifter opener. The hammer lifting piece is scroll engraved on back and marked “A.E. WHITMORE’S / PATENTS / AUG. 8 1871 / APR. 16 1872″. The top center of the barrels are marked “E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y.” Beautiful hardwood stock with crisp checkering may have been refinished sometime in the past. This Grade 3 piece is fully functional. Mechanics are crisp, bores have moderate shallow scattered pitting.
