7/21/20 – This is a beautifully engraved and hard to find Colt Model 1878 Fronter Six Shooter. The gun was likely custom engraved by a well trained professional based off the quality of the work. A Colt factory letter has been ordered that states it was shipped to Colt’s agency in San Francisco in June of 1891, and that it originally had a blued finish. It has a 7.5 in barrel and is chambered for .44 – 40 Colt. Excellent finish with just a bit of freckling on the barrel. Excellent Colt grips made of hard rubber. Bore has strong rifling but pitting in the grooves. The gun is an antique but appears to function correctly.
Note the beautiful fire blue pins and hammer. Nickel finish is excellent with no flaking , rust or pitting. Great presentation piece.
