4/7/20 – This is an original, fairly scarce style K98 bayonet with matching scabbard and leather frog. The bayonet is early, maker stamped S178K. The “K” at the end means this was made in 1934, and S178 is a maker code for Gebruder Heller. Nice wood grips are correct for this variation, and are without cracks or chips. The blade has most of the original bluing in tact with no signs of sharpening. There are a few light surface scratches from use though. The blade and scabbard are matching numbered 9019. The pommel, or top of the metal handle is worn with finish loss and patina. Properly waffen proofed with droop winged eagle/73 stamps. The scabbard has finish loss but no dents. The leather frog is missing some stitching (see the reverse side) but has fairly nice leather and is completely in tact.
