8/30/19 – This is a fairly scarce 1941 dated holster for the FN Browning model 1922 pistol. The holster body is made out of many layers of hardened paper in a style known as “Ersatz”, yet the upper flap/lid of the holster is made from leather. This upper portion of leather is ink stamped, and maker stamped with a “41” date, which is unusual since Ersatz was only really implemented later towards the end of WW2. Our theory is this holster was put together at the end of the war from a worn / broken 1941 holster to create a new “Frankenstein” type holster. A very cool piece of WW2 history. Great overall condition and all original leather and stitching.
